Alley Cat's Cosy Story:

Alley Cat couldn't remember his family, he didn't have a place he called home. Alley Cat could only remember living off his instincts, using his heightened senses. For the world was not always a friendly place to be and he soon learnt how to stay out of harms way or stand his ground. Yet Alley Cat had been lucky enough to find a territory in his neighbourhood where some of the human's were rather affectionate folk. Several he liked to call upon on his round daily; like the little old lady who lived at No. 6. Her garden was over grown but was the perfect place for hunting mice. She left out a small bowl of scraps for his breakfast. Then there was the little family, at No. 11 across the street, they had a little human that squealed with delight when Alley would appear on their garden wall. They bought proper cat biscuits for Alley, who was most grateful as his dental hygiene really wasn't it's best after a lifetime of neglect. And then there was his favourite, the lovely young lady at No. 24. She lived on her own and had large enquiring eyes. Alley would visit her in the evenings when he saw she was home. She always treated him to a bowl of food and dish of fresh water. She would tickle him behind the ear just the way he liked and he felt her heart beat change when he began to purr. Alley rather liked the idea of living with this kind human, but Alley wasn't sure if he could change. And yet perhaps change was a good thing Alley thought, especially when that change meant food, warmth and a cosy home.
